Climate conditions and crowd levels for each month of the year.
January often startles visitors expecting Southern balm. Daytime peaks at 16°C (60°F), but nights slide to 6°C (44°F), so bring a sweater for the waterfront. The city idles, streets stay empty, and the historic quarters feel like private property. Rain is light.
The month hinges on the Mardi Gras calendar. If the parades land in March, February stays calm and mild, with highs near 19°C (66°F) and a sleepy tempo. When Mardi Gras lands in February, Mobile erupts, downtown fills with floats, and the streets pulse like no other time. Rain stays scarce either way.
Spring nudges Mobile awake. Highs reach 22°C (71°F) and azalea gardens ignite, pulling sightseers into old neighborhoods and shaded lanes. Air feels fresh, humidity still polite. Good for city walking.
One of Mobile's finest months, hands down. Highs hover at 25°C (76°F), lows around 15°C (60°F), azaleas peak or just fade, and the Gulf Coast warms enough for beach runs minus the summer swarm. Rainfall stays minimal.
Heat ramps up through May, with highs hitting 28°C (83°F) and humidity thickening by month's end. Mornings and evenings stay kind, and beaches open without the full summer stampede. Good shoulder-season balance.
Summer settles in. Highs push 31°C (88°F) and humidity explains every shady porch in town. Hurricane season has opened, so glance at forecasts, then relax.
Peak summer grips Mobile. Highs sit at 32°C (89°F) and lows barely dip below 25°C (76°F), so nights offer little relief. Indoor culture, the History Museum of Mobile, the Carnival Museum, the art spots along Dauphin Street, shine at midday.
August mirrors July. Highs lock at 32°C (90°F) with the same sultry nights. Peak hurricane season runs through August and into September, so keep an eye on weather maps.
The slow cool-down starts. Highs slide to 31°C (87°F) and lows fall to 22°C (72°F), though humidity lags behind. Hurricane threat lingers through mid-month. By late September, Mobile exhales, and evenings regain comfort.
October arrives as the first month that feels unambiguously comfortable after summer's long hold. Highs around 27°C (80°F) with noticeably less humidity make outdoor time enjoyable in a way it has not been since May. The city's calendar fills with fall events. Parks and coastal areas around Mobile are at their most welcoming now. Go outside.
A calm, quietly pleasant month. Highs of 21°C (70°F) and lows around 12°C (53°F) mean a light jacket earns its place for evenings. Hurricane season technically continues through November. But activity is rare by this point. The city is unhurried. Historic neighborhoods are easy to explore without competition. Enjoy the quiet.
Mobile in December takes on a composed, slightly festive character. Highs reach 18°C (64°F) during the day and lows drop to around 9°C (48°F) at night, so it is legitimately cool by local standards. Cathedral Square area and surrounding blocks tend to have seasonal programming. Rainfall stays light. A restful month for slower-paced exploration.
